We offer playshops and facilitate gatherings of spontaneous creations between musicians, poets, artists and dancers, demonstrating the importance of the arts to the evolution of our culture as well as to our common humanity.
In 2014 we introduce YES! AND!, a group of folks who offer community-building events utilizing the creative arts. Emphasizing improvisational collaboration, these gatherings provide experiences that transcend cultural and personal boundaries, celebrate our diversity and illuminate the miracle that is our existence.
MOTION will be facilitated by three artists who thrive on creating in the moment.
Alison Weiner is the creator and caretaker of mahaloArts. With degrees in architecture, jazz studies and music composition, she is joyfully earning her keep as a musician by teaching, performing, composing, arranging and recording in and around Carrboro, NC. She is a Mentor in the Musicianship and Leadership Program of Music For People (www.MusicForPeople.org), honing and expanding her improvisational and facilitation skills, so that she can better do her part to demonstrate that embracing the universal language of music can help save the world.
Sophie Suberman has been a crafter since childhood, building light boxes, pop-ups, collages, clocks and other three-dimensional treasures. Always preferring art that has multiple meanings and uses (clocks, cards, lettering, games), Sophie finds pleasure and comfort in art that reflects, repurposes and redefines real life and real life objects. These days Sophie works with youth at Carolina Friends School around goal setting, self-awareness and -motivation, and creative discovery during the school's Exploratorium. She is in training for life coaching with Accomplishment Coaching to help individuals align their lives with ways of being that light them up from the inside-out.
